We read the book Quack, Daisy Quack! then we responded to the story by writing about what happened in it or telling about our favorite part.

Writing to Inform

This six weeks, we will be learning to write to inform. This week, during our study of animals in winter, we learned about penguins. Then we wrote at least two sentences stating factual information we learned about penguins.

Mo Willems: Author Study

The students are enjoying learning about the author, Mo Willems. They love reading the Pigeon books. They brainstormed what would happen if they let the pigeon drive the bus. They are also learning to use speech bubbles in their writing. Next week, we plan to write a letter to Mo Willems, do some more writing with the pigeon books, and have a hot dog party.

Shaving Cream Words

Before the party, we cleaned all of the glue off our tables so we could eat off of them and we practiced writing and spelling our word wall words.

Oh, The Words That We Can Write

This week, we practiced writing our word wall words outside. We sang our word wall songs and wrote our words with sidewalk chalk.
